Sony BDP-S360 1080p Blu-ray Disc Player

Very happy with this blu ray player. I was looking for a small bare bones unit (without all the Netflix Pandora stuff) to hook up to my 720p TV. This was it! The unit is light and compact. Worked great right out of the box with no firmware updates (I think there is one available but I didn't download). Image/picture quality is excellent. It even up converts my dvds beautifully! If your TV is less then 1080p make sure you set this player's video output to 1080i. The default is "auto" detect. I found with "auto" turned "on" my regular DVDs don't up convert as nicely. Oh and you have to use HDMI to benefit fully from blu ray and DVD up convert. Also this unit is very quiet. My Samsung is noisy!

I bought a Samsung BD-P1600 nine months ago and had nothing but problems. You can read my review over at that page if you want all the details. I finally had it and decided to purchase this Sony player. What a big difference! Plays everything I throw in it flawlessly without any issues, which is more that I can say for the Samsung player. A player like this just proves that you don't need a PS3 in order to get stable playback of Blu-ray Discs. I've thrown in many different Blu-ray titles on this unit and not one of them was a problem. Sony definitely is the way to go! They're smart, they know what they're doing, and have excellent quality control. For less than $130, you will get one of the best players you can get. Highly recommended!

Sony is one of the few life time ownership companies and backs its electronic products to the utmost degree. They are now working up their eye wear line and I based my decision to purchase a pair on the basis of the Sony name of distinction on it. The blu-ray player as referenced above has provided me with hours of pleasurable viewing with crisp almost 3D picture. There are more expensive units that offer different features but personally I think this unit from Sony is all most consumers need.Jay Adler+

I'm not sure that plugging a BluRay player into your Router is very convenient, but other than that, it works on ALL discs, GREAT Picture & Sound! If you like watching BluRay movies, or just want to upscale your DVD's, this is one hell of a player!

The Sony BDP-S360 is a very nice starter unit. I was looking for an entry level product that would introduce me to the world of BluRay. This product has most of the features I need, and excellent branding. It works perfectly with my Sony Bravia HDTV. The HDMI interface makes for an easy setup, coupled with a Polk Audio Instant Home Theater system and I was off to the races.
