I waited till later on the PS3 as I was one of the ones who rushed out to get "2" back in the day only to have the system just die on me one day...long story short I didn't want to shell out big bucks for this one up front so I waited till later...just to give them time to work out the kinks...well?PS3 dissapointed me on so many levels! first off it looks cheap, second of all NO MEMORY CARDS... all internal "imaginary memory cards" but the biggest dissapointment OF ALL was the fact that I can't play my small but huge collection of PS2 games on it! THANK GOD IT PLAys THE PS1 GAMES!the reason this is a problem is the fact that I have limited space on my TV so just like last time i got a system, i put away the old PS & replaced it with the newer PS2! NOW I WILL HAVE TO KEEP PS2 HOOKED UP ALSO! IF I WANT TO PLAY MY PS2 GAMES!on one hand its good not TO have to shift memory cards all the time but on the other hand, MY expieriences with HDDs isn't all that rosey, WHAT if you forget to back it up and something goes wrong? I lose computer data like that all the time [WITH THE INVENT OF LARGER PORTABLE HDD'S, not as much as i did in the past but still every now and then]On one good note about the system, I noticed it plays a few of my PS1 games faster and they don't seem to load as slow however not enough to make up for the letdowns!I don't see what makes it so hard for them to make ALL MODELS NOT play PS2 games? I mean, they note that SOME models do THEN why not all of them? HOW CHEAP IS THAT? and its NOT like PS3 is cheap on ANY front! $299 is alot of money for a gameplayer! Sadly I'm stuck with the one I've got! Next time sony when you create a player [i.e. PS4] make sure it covers ALL formats! It CAN'T BE THAT HARD!
After a few years of indecision and with the price of the console going down to a more reasonable price I finally gave in and bought my PS3, and with all it does a fantastic choice. One of the best things about the PS3 I feel other than the graphics and built-in blu-ray player is the free online availability Sony has for their customers sadly Microsoft could learn from this at least a little bit, also was the easy connection I had with the console to go online it had no problems with my router or making a easy connection online(Unlike Microsoft where if you upgraded to an N-series router you have to buy Microsofts newest adapter to go online since the old adapter wouldn't recognize WPA2 security settings). The console is about the same weight of the xbox 360 but has one 120gb harddrive inside the console already no having to buy a harddrive separately(Microsoft), and while some people might fear this harddrive is to small you can get a bigger harddrive online to put into the console at a later date if they wish to do so. So for people undecided on which console to get Xbox 360 or the PS3 both of which are very good regardless look no farther as the Ps3 is the same price most have already paid for the mentioned Xbox and with what you get with this incredible console a great choice..
I bought The PS3 as a family gift and I have been very pleased with it especially with being able to play games with others on-line. I also am pleased with the unit as a Blu-ray DVD player. I have always been a Die-hard Playstation owner from Day 1 with the original and have never owned any other system.
This console is great. With hdmi, blue-ray and bluetooth. And now slim. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Is the best console in the market.
I've had my PS3 for approximately 6 months and love it. This is the best deal for a combo game console + blu ray player. GET IT!
