This printer replaces my Brother all in one which was a great printer for the past five years. This printer is about twice as fast and the 2 side printing feature has saved a lot of paper. It does seem to go through ink faster than the Brother did. Set up was easy on both my Mac and PC however the wireless setup on the Mac took a couple of attempts and I've had to re set the wireless printing twice now for the Mac. The Fax is about the same speed as the Brother but it may be because of the Time Warner cable connection. It make great copies and it scans well. I would say that for the price, $99.00 at Amazon, and the wireless and the two side printing It's a great deal on a very good printer.
I bought this printer as a Christmas gift for my son and he loves it.
Picked up this printer so that we could print from the 3 computers in our household - one desktop and two laptops. Previously had an Office Jet 710 from the last century and needed one that could be accessible w/o a direct connection. I'm not complaining - the 710 lasted forever!Check your prices, I'm returning the original I'd bought from Best Buy (list price 209 and told them that Comp USA had it at 179). Then I went to BJ's and found it for 139. Yes, you do need to install it from a CD. And it does take some time. But went through all of our computers without any issues. Love the fact that you can replace cartridges by color. Previously had to do the combo replacement. I expect to enjoy this printer for many years to come based on my past experience with HP printers.
Installing drivers and driver compatability are a nightmare.HP is notorious for software problems and driver compatibility-just google this and you will find thousands of frustrated consumers. If you want to spend hundreds of hours on the phone trying to troubleshoot driver problems go ahead and buy an HP-and when your warranty runs out you are lost. HP has driver/compatability problems and they do not fix their problems which leave you with useless junk. If you are even thinking about changing your operating system/computer, do not plan on seamless compatability.Avoid HP and buy Lexmark.
