I used this to upgrade from 32 bit Vista to 64 bit Windows 7. I followed suggestions and printed out the Users guide, and it could not have been easier. Upgrade went super fast and all my programs made the transition without having to reinstall. Best $9 I have ever spent.
You are wasting your time with this product. Called Laplink and they could care less.
I printed and read both the long and short version of the instructions and followed them precisely. Nothing usable was transferred, just a bunch of non-usable garbage that I now have to clean up. I am now going through the multi-day process of transferring everything manually. What a waste of money and time.
This seemed like the perfect update path. I had Vista 64 ultimate, and as Microsoft had not supported any of the advanced features that were supposed to be part of the ultimate edition and further only gave discounts for upgrades for every package except ultimate I planed on migrating to Windows 7 professional. Microsoft requires a full update for this.I used PC mover to migrate. Reading their instructions I didn't try to migrate anything they specifically stated wouldn't work. Everything appeared to work great, seemed to save several days of effort. However I soon discovered that many things were not working. My system couldn't create a restore point. I could not install several programs that had not been successfully moved by PC move. After almost an entire month of fighting problems I reformatted my disk and did a complete clean install. It took 4 full days to reload all my programs, my databases and my network settings.I do not recommend PC Mover and further if you have a working Windows Vista system, keep it W7 may be slightly cleaner but it's not worth the effort to upgrade.
I used the product to migrate from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 home premium. It worked pretty well and most of my applications worked fine after the migration. A few had to be reinstalled (internet security for one) but overall I am pleased and found the process faster than the windows upgrade I did on my laptop.
