Wii is an awesome gaming system. What is in the box is enough to get started. The sports games are very entertaining. Anyone can play. No gaming skills required. My mother has been playing non-stop every day since Christmas. Gets you up out of your chair and moving. I hadn't played video games consistently since the Atari 2600. This is a great system for adults and children. The more people, the more fun.
purchased the Wii for christmas for my 8yr old daughter. However, we all use it. It is a great tool for those who don't get out of the house much. As for me I work out of my home so I don't get a chance to get out much so I use the Wii for excercise.WE mostly play the Just Dance game, or the Wii fitness. It really works...
I have owned 6 different gaming consoles. All of the Nintendo's and the Playstations. The Wii beats them all! The assortment of games offered are amazing and the get up off the couch playing is totally a plus. Though don't over do it...my arms were killing me after the first night. The Wii is easy to set up and understand. The controller took a few tries to get use to (never played with a wireless). My husband and I play everyday and we even have Wii date nights. If you are buying for children (especially if you have couch potatoes) the Wii is it. There are plenty of kid friendly games to choose from plus most of the games are fun for adults. I know because I bought some for myself. The price is good and you wont be a lump on the couch.
I purchased the WII system with two goals, to get my wife and myself moving (using WII Fit and the balance board), and to try my hand at gaming again (after a multiple year layoff). I'm quite satisfied with the workouts offered by the WII FIT system, and it's pretty easy for me to stay interested in daily excersize. My only complaint is that there is much more empahsis on snappy movement, as opposed to good form.As for gaming, I purchased Call of Duty Reflex and the Zapper remote holder. As expected it took me a day or so to get up to speed with the aiming, movement, an such, but once I got the hang of it, it took me about 12 days of play (a couple of hrs at a time) to complete all missions in the game and open the Arcade Mode. I greatly enjoyed the game, with the only complaint being the graphics quality, (but I didn't expect great graphics from the WII)Overall I gave the system 4 stars.
my husband has to have every video game system that comes out, we've owned everything from sega genesis to dreamcast to ps1-2-3 xbox + xbox360 and he spends too many hours playing after work each day. he always tries to teach me to play, i quickly loose interest because using the controller is too difficult AND THEN THERE WAS WII! sent from heaven i can really enjoy playing video games! now he complains i'm on the video game too long...
